Unlocking the Power of Leucine-Enriched EAAs
What is every amino product built off these days? Branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). BCAAs are key ingredients to consume no matter what type of athlete you are: Bodybuilding, powerlifting, long distance runner, or sprinter. If you work your muscles…BCAAs should be a go-to supplement.

But the majority of the BCAA products on the market are just that…BCAAs, not a whole lot else. There are a few industry-funded BCAA studies out there with good results. But we feel these products are missing something essential…literally!

The body runs off what we call Essential Amino Acids. These are amino acids that your body cannot make on its own. They must be consumed via diet. You see, when your body goes to make new protein, like the protein that make up your muscles, it requires that all of the 9 essential amino acids be present, not just the 3 BCAAs.

Your body starts by making muscle protein to build muscle mass. It incorporates the BCAAs into the growing protein chains, and then your genetic code calls for an essential amino acid. So what happens if you don't have EAAs present?

The new protein is terminated. You simply do not benefit.
Your body breaks down a pre-existing muscle protein (known as “catabolism”) in order to get the missing amino acid. The net effect is loss of muscle mass.
Now most of us should have sufficient EAAs if we are on high protein diets, but if you are going to be taking a supplement with leucine or BCAAs, why just assume you have sufficient amounts already in your body? We created a product that provides each essential amino acid in every serving.

It's not About the Ratio!
If you are an “amino-holic” than you have probably come across advertisements and claims about what the best “BCAA ratio” is. Some companies claim a 2:1:1 ratio is the best because they say it's the only research backed ratio. We are here to tell you that is simply not true.

In fact, one of the most recent and powerful studies, an independent study by the US Department of Defense, was done on a blend of EAAs. One consisted of a 2:1:1 ratio of BCAAs in the blend, and the other, a leucine-enriched blend that had a ratio of 4:1:1.

OMG! Does this mean a 4:1:1 ratio is better than a 2:1:1 ratio?! No…what it means is that the ratio is not important. What is important is that you have a high leucine content, and sufficient amounts of all other EAAs in your diet. That is why Amino IV is a formulated high leucine-enriched EAA product.
